Artist: Jacques Clauzel
This specific product (JC33): Jacques Clauzel is a French artist, born in the city of Nimes, France. Clauzel knew he wanted to pursue art from a young age and studied at the school of Beux Arts in Tourcoing, Paris. At just 23 years old, he won a scholarship to the prestigious Prix de Rome in France, a very exclusive artists establishment that has been active since the 1600's. After his time spent studying, Clauzel traveled around Africa as a photographer before returning to France in 1973, at which point he launched his own tutoring school for commercial and advertising photography. In 1976 Clauzel returned to the medium of painting and printmaking. He has subsequently built up a very extensive back catalog of art and has exhibited since the 1980's. Given that Clauzel has dabbled in both photography and print, you can see the connection between the two in the way that his designs evoke the look and texture of an undeveloped roll of film.
